The four things AI models look for before citing a source.
Extractability. Can the model pull a clean, unambiguous fact out of the content without needing to interpret marketing language? Structured data - tables, defined lists, clear headers - extracts more reliably than persuasive prose.
Verifiability. Does the claim have a clear basis: a date, an audit reference, a named methodology, a linked primary source? Unsupported superlatives get filtered out even when the underlying content is otherwise well-structured.
Freshness. Is there a visible last-updated date, and does the content actually reflect current facts? Crypto moves fast enough that models are tuned to discount stale-looking sources in this vertical specifically.
Consensus and cross-referencing. Does the claim roughly match what other trusted sources say? A first-party page with numbers wildly out of line with third-party data is more likely to be discounted…
